Hauko Wessel erhielt seine künstlerische und musikpädagogische Ausbildung in Hannover, Tel Aviv und München. Schon mit 27 unterrichtet er an der Hochschule München, 4 Jahre später folgte er dem Ruf als Professor für Violine und Violindidaktik an die Hochschule Osnabrück, Institut für Musik . Er war langjähriger künstlerischer Leiter der Mozart-Woche der Deutschen Mozart Gesellschaft und wurde immer wieder als Dozent zu Meisterkursen und Konzerten in viele Länder eingeladen (z.B. Italien, Frankreich Südamerika)
Von 1998-2003 spielte er zahlreiche CD und Radioproduktionen mit der Musica Antiqua Köln ein (Deutsche Grammophon, Deutschland Radio, NDR etc.) und nahm an vielen Tourneen durch Europa mit diesem Ensemble teil.
Sein Repertoire ist weit gespannt, es umfasst verschieden Formen der Kammermusik sowie Konzerte mit Orchester. Er ist gern gesehener und gehörter Gast bei bedeutenden Musikfestivals im
In und Ausland, wo er mit verschiedenen Künstlern zu hören ist.
Als Mitbegründer der „Neuen Hofkapelle Osnabrück“ 2016 ist er seitdem auch wieder oft in barocken Konzerten zu hören.
Vielfach war er als Solist beim „Festival des Pasqua“ in Cervo, Italien, zu hören, und spielte und spielt als Kammermusikpartner von Rolan Pröll.
2019 war er Präsident der Jury des „Internationalen Mozartwettbewerbs in Berlin“, für 2022 liegen Einladungen als Solist und Dozent nach China und Korea vor.
Seine Absolventinnen und Absolventen haben Dozenturen und Lehraufträge an bedeutenden Institutionen und Hochschulen, viele ausländische Studierende studieren bei ihm, weil sie seinem
Ruf als hervorragender Geiger und Lehrer folgen.
Hauko Wessel received his artistic and music education training in Hanover, Tel Aviv and Munich.
At the age of 27 he was already teaching at the University of Munich, 4 years later he followed the call of professor for violin and violin didactics at the University of Osnabrück, Institute for Music.
He was the artistic director of the Mozart Week of the German Mozart Society for many years and was repeatedly invited as a lecturer to master classes and concerts in many countries (e.g. Italy, France, South America)

He is a welcome and heard guest at important music festivals at home and abroad, where he can be heard with various artists. As a co-founder of the “Neue Hofkapelle Osnabrück” in 2016, he has often been heard in baroque concerts since then.
He has often been heard as a soloist at the “Festival des Pasqua” in Cervo, Italy, and has played and plays as a chamber music partner of Roland Pröll.
In 2019 he was president of the jury of the “International Mozart Competition in Berlin”, and invitations to China and Korea as a soloist and lecturer have been received for 2022. His graduates have lectureships and teaching positions at major institutions and universities, and many foreign
students study with him because they follow his reputation as excellent violinists and teachers.
